Online Safety Guide
How Segritude helps keep our games and community safe, what we expect from everyone taking part, and how to report a problem.
1. OUR COMMITMENT
Segritude wants our games and community spaces to be places where people can play, talk and create without fear of harassment, exploitation or harm. This guide explains how we help keep you safe, what we expect from everyone taking part, and what to do when something goes wrong.
It applies to our website, our community features such as suggestions and comments, and our games and any associated channels we run.
2. PROTECTING YOUR ACCOUNT
2.1 Passwords
Use a long, unique password that you do not use anywhere else. A password manager makes this straightforward. Never share your password, and be aware that Segritude staff will never ask you for it.
2.2 Recognising scams
Be cautious of messages offering free items, early access, beta keys or account upgrades in exchange for your login details, payment information or personal data. We do not run giveaways that require your password, and we do not ask for payment details over private messages.
Check the sender address on any email claiming to be from us. Official Segritude email comes from our own domain. If a message feels rushed, threatening or too good to be true, treat it as suspicious.
2.3 If your account is compromised
Change your password immediately, sign out of all sessions, and contact us so we can help secure the account and review any activity.
3. SHARING PERSONAL INFORMATION
Think carefully before sharing anything that identifies you or your location. This includes your full name, home or school address, phone number, email address, place of work or study, and photographs that reveal identifying details in the background.
Remember that anything you post in a public community space can be read, saved and shared by others, including people you did not intend to reach. Your profile, comments and suggestions on this website are public unless stated otherwise.
4. TREATING OTHERS WELL
We expect everyone taking part in our community to behave decently. The following are not acceptable anywhere in our spaces:
Harassment, bullying, threats or intimidation
Hate speech or discrimination on any grounds, including race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation
Sexual content involving minors, or any sexualised approach to a person you know or believe to be under eighteen
Sharing another person's private information without their consent
Impersonating Segritude staff, our partners, or another member
Spam, scams, phishing, or links to malicious software
Encouraging self-harm, suicide or violence
Disagreement is fine and often useful. Contempt, abuse and personal attacks are not.
5. ADVICE FOR YOUNGER PLAYERS
You must be at least thirteen years old to create an account with us. If you are under thirteen, please take extra care:
Never share your real name, address, school or phone number with people you meet online
Never agree to meet someone in person that you have only met online
Be wary of anyone who asks you to move a conversation to a private channel, asks you to keep secrets from your parents or guardians, offers you gifts or in-game items, or asks for photographs
Tell a parent, guardian or another trusted adult if anything online makes you uncomfortable, even if you feel embarrassed about it
Nothing that another person does to make you uncomfortable is your fault, and you will not be in trouble for reporting it.
6. ADVICE FOR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS
We encourage you to take an active interest in what your child plays and where they spend time online. Talk with them about who they interact with, agree sensible limits together, and make sure they know they can come to you without fear of losing access as a punishment.
Most consoles, computers and mobile devices offer parental controls that let you manage spending, screen time, communication and age ratings. Age ratings from PEGI in the United Kingdom and Europe, and from the ESRB in North America, give clear guidance on content suitability.
If you have concerns about how your child is being treated in our community, contact us and we will look into it.
7. REPORTING SOMETHING
If you see behaviour that breaks these expectations, please report it. On our website you can report a comment, a suggestion or a member profile using the report option on the item itself. Choose a reason and add any detail that will help us understand what happened.
Reports come directly to our team and are treated confidentially. We review each one and may remove content, issue a warning, or suspend an account depending on the seriousness of what we find. We will not tell the person you reported who raised it.
For anything you would rather raise privately, contact us through our contact page.
8. WHEN TO CONTACT THE AUTHORITIES
Some situations need more than a platform report. If you believe a child is at risk, if someone is threatening violence, or if you are the victim of a crime such as fraud, blackmail or stalking, please contact your local police.
In the United Kingdom you can report concerns about a child's safety online to the Child Exploitation and Online Protection command, and get advice about fraud from Action Fraud. If someone is in immediate danger, call the emergency services.
9. LOOKING AFTER YOURSELF
Games are meant to be enjoyable. Take regular breaks, keep an eye on how much time and money you are spending, and step away if playing starts to feel like an obligation or is affecting your sleep, studies, work or relationships.
If you are struggling with your mental health, please talk to someone you trust or a qualified professional. Support is available and asking for it is a sign of strength, not weakness.
10. CHANGES TO THIS GUIDE
We will update this guide as our games and community features develop. The date below shows when it was last revised.
